Fort Hood No Jihad: Scholar

WASHINGTON – Prominent Muslim scholar Dr. Jamal Badawi refuted a claim by an American-Yemeni imam that the shooting tragedy at Fort Hood military base was an act of Jihad against the enemies of Islam.

"It is a very serious issue for any person to say Islam says this. I have a very fundamental disagreement with this," Dr. Badawi, who teaches in Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, told IslamOnline.net.

Pilgrims will climb Mount `Arafat, the climax of hajj, on Thursday, November 26.RIYADH — Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday, November 17, that `Eid Al-Adha, one of the two main religious festivals on the Islamic calendar, will fall on Friday, November 27.

"The new moon of Dhul-Hijjah was sighted by trusted witnesses on Tuesday in a number of provinces," the Supreme Judicial Council said in a statement published by the state-run Saudi Press Agency.
