MSA National Mourns the Passing of Imam W.D. Mohammed

(Washington, DC 9/9/08)

MSA National mourns the passing of Imam Warith Deen Mohammed. A much loved and admired Muslim leader, Imam W.D. Mohammed died today at the age of 74.

Imam W.D. Mohammed was the pivotal figure in leading followers of the Nation of Islam to mainstream Islam, creating the largest demographic of Muslims in the United States. His subtle leadership, strong work ethic, and unshakeable faith inspired millions of people in the United States to break the divisive barriers of ethnicity and religion; a goal he quite literally dedicated his entire life to achieve. He succeeded in breaking down many barriers; Imam W.D. Mohammed was the first Muslim to give an invocation speech to the US Senate in 1993. He also led the Interfaith Prayer Service on two separate occasions during the Clinton Administration.

Palestinian Suffering Dampens Israel Celebration

By Bessy Reyna, at The Hartford Courant on May 16, 2008

Early this month, I attended a panel dealing with the Israeli occupation of Palestine. It was organized by the group "We Refuse To Be Enemies," composed of Jews, Muslims and Christians. This group's main goal is the promotion of a peaceful and just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In light of Israel's 60th anniversary, and the lack of progress in resolving the conflict, this is an ever more urgent issue.

The Conferences of Harun Yahya1 seek to recall various crucial facts, which for the past 150 years the public has been led to disregard and even deny, under the influence of the turmoil of the modern age. One of these basic facts brought out and proven again and again is that the universe, all living things. Man himself, and indeed the entire universe are not the products of evolution—the accidental, accumulated results of blind chance—but the separate creations and artifacts of Almighty God, the Supreme Creator. We are all created by Him, and to Him we will all return. The allegedly "scientific: challenges to this fact — for example, Darwinism and other materialistic dogmas such as the theory of evolution— are nothing but deceptions, as fully explained in Harun Yahya's books and in this conference. The lecture hosted at UConn covers the following topics:
