Fasting on the Day of 'Arafah

Assalaamu 'alaikum,
The day of 'Arafa, the 9th of Dhil Hijja 1426, which coincides with January 9th 2006, is a day of great blessing. Fasting on that day is highly recommended.
1250. Abu Qatada said "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked about fasting the Day of 'Arafat. He said, 'It expiates the past year and coming year.'" [Muslim]
