Counselling refers to the short term process, where a person discusses troubling issues in their lives. Along with the counsellor, they are looking for ways to better manage and resolve them in service of the person’s own values and desires.
Through talking and, also, creative expression, if relevant, – such as drawing, role playing and visualisation- person and counsellor engage in a process of identifying patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that are not useful in the person’s life.
Counselling support within the context of an organisation, often called Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can have a significant impact in addressing an employee’ s challenges effectively. Issues like stress management, organisation of work, prioritisation of tasks, internal psychological obstacles, work-life balance and others can be explored and discussed confidentially bringing awareness and resolution.
There usually offered 6-12 sessions to an employee which keeps the work focused on gaining the most benefits within the specific time frame.
